United States Department of Transportation (USDOT)
The United States Government’s transportation information home
page. The page contains links to various programs and other

Bureau of Transportation Statistics
BTS provides statistical information regarding all sectors of
transportation for the United States. Information can vary from
rider ship profiles to linking with census information, to
freight shipment.
Federal Highway Administration
FHWA administrates surface transportation along highways and the
interstate system. The Safe Accountable Flexible Efficient
Transportation Equity Act – A Legacy for Users, replaced the
Transportation Equity Act for the 21st Century. FHWA maintains
several pages regarding the various aspects of the current

Federal Transit Administration
The Federal Transit Administration provides federal dollars and
assistance to programs of mass transit and public
transportation. These services can be anything from jitney
service to full rail programs.
Federal Aviation Administration
The FAA is in charge of providing many services and enforcing
regulations on public and private sectors of aviation. They
inspect airport design and maintenance; provide safety
information and regulations for maintaining operational
aircraft, and monitor air traffic.
National Traffic Safety Administration
A vital source for transportation safety information including
new technology, accident information, and highway construction
studies.
Transportation Research Board
The mission of the Transportation Research Board is to promote
innovation and progress in transportation through research.

STATE

Texas Department of Transportation

TxDOT is a state agency responsible for constructing and
maintaining interstate highways, U.S. highways, state highways,
and farm to market roads in Texas. The Amarillo District Office
is instrumental in regional transportation planning aspects.
They also register motor vehicles, provide travel information,
license automobile dealers, and oversee many other programs and
services.
Texas Commission on Environmental Quality
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) is the
environmental agency for the state.
Texas Natural Resources Information System
The Texas Natural Resources Information System (TNRIS), a
Division of the Texas Water Development Board, is the state's
clearinghouse for maps, aerial photos, and digital natural
resources data. TNRIS also serves as a distribution center for
U.S. Geological Survey maps and has numerous other map
collections available for in-house use or reproduction.

City of Amarillo
The City of Amarillo is the fiscal agent for and houses the
Amarillo Metropolitan Planning Organization.
Association of Texas MPO's
The Association of Texas Metropolitan Planning Organizations was
established to: provide a conduit for exchange of information
and ideas, coordinate participation in state and federal policy
development, promote professional development and continuing
education, promote and develop better transportation planning in
the State of Texas, and enhance working partnerships with the
Texas Department of Transportation, and the various agencies
within the U.S. Department of Transportation.
Association of Metropolitan Planning Organizations
AMPO is the transportation advocate for metropolitan regions and
is committed to enhancing MPOs' abilities to improve
metropolitan transportation systems.
National Association of Regional
Councils
The
National Association of Regional Councils represents and
advocates for the interests of regional councils and
metropolitan planning organizations - rural and urban, large and
small - at the national level.
Panhandle Regional Planning Commission
The Panhandle Regional Planning Commission is a voluntary
association of cities, counties, and special districts in the
Texas Panhandle. The Planning Commission assists local
governments in planning, developing, and implementing programs
designed to improve the general health, safety, and welfare of
the citizens in the Texas Panhandle.

Technical Committees.
Randall County

Headquartered in College Station as part of the Texas A&M
System, TTI provides information on almost every aspect of
transportation research available. TTI is the largest source of
transportation research in Texas.
Center for Transportation Research U.T. Austin
CTR is a nationally recognized research institution focusing on
transportation research, education, and public service. We
invite you to review our programs, facility, and professional

ITS America
ITS America has been the foremost advocate for the development
and deployment of intelligent transportation systems in the U.S.
Our members include private corporations, public agencies,
academic institutions, and research centers. These members share

The American Association of State
Highway and Transportation Officials advocates
transportation-related policies and provides technical services
to support states in their efforts to efficiently and safely

Safe Routes to School
Safe Routes to Schools is a popular program spreading across
Canada and the U.S. designed to decrease traffic and pollution
and increase the health of children and the community. The
program promotes walking and biking to school through education
and incentives.
American Planning Association
The American Planning Association (APA) is a nonprofit public
interest and research organization representing over 39,000
practicing planners, officials, and citizens involved with urban
and rural planning issues.
Texas Chapter of the American Planning Association
The Mission of the Texas Chapter of the American Planning
Association is to advocate the profession of planning, providing
expertise and processes that empower citizens to be engaged in
the development and sustainability of Great Communities in
Texas.
Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor Coalition
The Ports-to-Plains Trade Corridor is a planned, multimodal
transportation corridor that will facilitate the efficient
transportation of goods and services from Mexico, through West
Texas, New Mexico, Colorado, and Oklahoma, and ultimately on
into Canada and the Pacific Northwest. This study is a joint
effort by the four state Departments of Transportation.
